The number of square feet divided by 43560 will give you the acreage, but make sure you calculate the square footage correctly.  Many lots are not square or rectangular.

Aussie, if you want a short cut for remembering how many square feet in an acre, think of "7-11" because it's 4+3 and 5+6 + 0 = 43560. Works for me! Beth's answer is correct.

Just multiply the feet to get the total square footage for your lot.  Then divide by 43560  which is the number of sq ft in an acre.
