I live in New York and my divorce is not yet final. My soon to be ex and i are both listed on the marital mortgage and a HELOC. (total of about 100,000) My question is: can he legally put himself on a mortgage with the new girlfriend and what effect will this have on me if I should want to refinance in the future, if he is obligated to another property? Can he do that?
