There are agents on here who are claiming listings as their own when they are not. They aren't even in the same company!

There are a lot of things that agents do on here that really chap those of us trying to follow the rules and be honest... like posting about 30 answers late at night when no one is watching and including all your contact info!

They may be # 1 in each of their own small areas - say at home... 99 yrs, #1, 'The Best', etc, Let's look a little more professional.
This is why I ask myself 'would I say it in the paper', where I can't take it back, and every personality type and experience level will scrutinize my comments, before I put something out there for the world. I may be funny looking, but I don't like people pointing and laughing because I opened my mouth...
Phyllis, I will try to return your call in the morning, I can point you to your broker and youor local Realtor Association's Professional Standards Committee for advice, also. I look forward to meeting you someday and doing business.

In my area many agents advertise themselves as #1...How can so many agents be #1 in my area?

That is interesting. Trust but verify. I just left the profile of an "Auctioneer" that claims to be the only real estate residential company offering homes for sale by auction.....what? Huge claim.
Hi Paul, Yes I see your point, however I grew up in Boston and I feel comfortable refering a client in that area. No I'm not licenced in Mass. perhaps I should have a disclaimer? What are your thoughts?

Any agent with 99 years experience may die before the closing. Any client who falls for lies that blatant probably deserves the crapo agent that they will get.

I have also referred clients to other agents in 5 other states, but do not consider myself an active agent in those states. I do not have a license, sell real estate, nor belong to a local Realtor Association except in Washington.
By your argument, since I can refer to any agent in any location, Zillow should not even have a area for agents to designate, since we can refer anywhere and can enter any location.
Also, isn't it misleading to a member of the public if they are searching in a state you aren't licensed, to pull up your profile. Wouldn't they expect you to be licensed there?
I'm glad to see you aren't advertising 99 years experience as some single agents are. I'm sure I will hear from brokerage companies, and multiple agent groups that they simply added there numbers together.
And I didn't mean to say anyone is doing anything against zillow's policies, just that it seems to be misleading to the public. As a member of the National Association of Realtors, I wonder if this is a Code of Ethics issue. Maybe it is a grey area.

I have in my profile that my area is in California and I also put other counties and states too. The reason is because I have a network of Agents in (for example) Boston, where I grew up. As far as having 99 years of experience, well, that's a bit much.

I noticed that some individual agents are creating profiles with possible errors.
