The sales price is updated through public data sources, then through a third party provider. I've seen it take as little as 10 days and as long as 9 months to appear in Zillow. It isn't a user editable function.

Thanks . . . I was able to claim it after all . . . but, how could I get the "Price History" section updated with the date and price of purchase?

Not sure what you mean. I put in the address, and it showed a townhome here. Also, off of the "Edit" pulldown it looked like Zillow would allow me to claim it. I didn't, but I got to the point where Zillow wanted my password to finish claiming it.

I purchased 10087 Apple Wood Ct, Burke, VA. It does not show in Zillow. How do I update this?
I want to add some pictures to your database, but I can not claim this house. It shows the former owner's name only (Joseph Sapienzo). The purchase was done 26 Aug 2011. How do I get this update in your database?
