For a conventional mortgage: If you had a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, it must be discharged for a minimum of 48 months. If you had a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, it must either be discharged for a minimum of 24 months or 48 months must have elapsed since the dismissal date.
For an FHA mortgage: If you had a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, it must be discharged for a minimum of 24 months. If you had a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, you must have made a minimum of 12 months of payments.
In all cases: All other judgments and liens must be paid off. You must also have reestablished good credit, and you cannot have any late payments on any accounts since the bankruptcy.
