Zestimates are usually notoriously wrong. A better estimate can be given by a Realtor. Valuing your home is an art and not a science. We look at many factors to come up with what we think the value is...given the age, recent solds, condition, improvements, proximity to other structures or amenities, neighborhood etc. Tax records can sometimes be helpful and give you a general idea of what the value is but not like what a Realtor can give you. In the tax record, you will want to look at something like total market value or total assessed value or the like. If your tax records are up to date, then this figure should give you a general idea as to your house value. Hope this helps. If you need to find a good local Realtor, let me know. I know how to screen.
