Pam - If you'd like your MLS to have a direct feed set up to Zillow, please feel free to pass my name along. I am happy to walk them through the process and help them do so.
Jackie - We certainly can do as you describe. However, I also wanted to let you know that at the bottom of every For Sale property posting on the site, we cite the data source. So if you see outdated info on the site, it should be updated at the source, and then that change will carry over to Zillow.
The reason this is important to change it at the source, verses contacting Zillow is usually these data sources are syndicating to many other sites. So if they are sending dated data to Zillow, it is very likely in many other places online.

Thanks for the reply, Jackie. I honestly thought Zillow obtained its data from the MLS, but apparently it is up to me to keep the data current on all my listings.

I checked on this when someone asked me about a listing that was sold two months ago. If you come across a listing showing for sale and it is actually sold, then send the info to zillow and they will correct it. This obviously won't take care of the bigger picture, but I believe zillow is trying to remedy this situation......I jsut can't remember exactly what I was told they were doing!

"It's too bad because consumers assume the data is current." -
I don't see what that is "too bad".... if the members of the local MLS wanted to do something about it, they could, but the MLS's refuse to provide data direct to non-members.
And the listings on Zillow are as current as the agents and owners want them to be... If they chose to leave outdated listings, and to not provide current listing information... that is 100% the prerogative of the owner and agent. Only the agent can do anything about keeping their listings current, and if they choose to minimize the exposure of their listings for their clients, what are you going to do about it? The agent will not lose their license by refusing to allow people to know they have a current listing.

Thanks. It's too bad because consumers assume the data is current.

Zillow only pulls data from two MLS organizations. The bulk of their listings come from data feeds from brokerages, 3d party websites and FSBO sellers. The problem most often happens when the listing on 3d party websites are not removed when the property either pends, sells or is no longer for sale. If Zillow were allowed to pull from MLS listings then the data would be more accurate.
I thought Zillow scraped data from the MLS. If so, then why is the data several weeks old?
