Hello,
I am a professor at the U of I working on an NSF project to design on a haggling model for buyers of real estate. There is a lot of potential for collaboration with Zillow either on a technical level or even sharing data. Happy to sign an NDA. Please e-mail me if interested [edited by Zillow moderator to remove contact information. Please refer to Good Neighbor Policy]

Pat, "Agents don't haggle they negotiate everythihng."

I always thought when someone was haggling they were negotiating. Others have thought when someone was negotiating they were haggling. It is the same thing just a different terminology.

Agents shouldn't "negotiate" either, they should "facilitate".

Besides, what's the harm in putting some thought into a barter system for negotiating RE prices and/or transactions? Unless having the seller/buyer in direct negotiations threatens the traditional REA role?

Personally, I'm not sure it can really be formalized, but...

Haggle sounds more like a discussion app than a functional app. As you need brokers to show the property, write contracts and keep things moving forward. Not sure what it would do for a buyer in zillow? Agents don't haggle they negotiate everythihng.
