If we recently updated our kitchen etc, how do we get a new Zestimate on Zillow?

Profile picture for lejardin
We updated our kitchen with granite counter tops, new appliances etc. in 2007.  Also, our house was a complete gut and remodel; new insulation, wiring, plumbing etc.  I do not think Zillows Zestimate took all this into consideration when comparing to other homes in our area that are "partial" remodels at best with mostly "cosmetic" work only.   How do we get Zillow to reflect these differences in their Zestimate?

Great answers--here's one more little thing.

Zillow offers you, the homeowner, to create your own estimate based on metrics like remodels. It's called a MyEstimate, and information on how to make and maintain one can be found in this video.

Zillow uses many data points to create it's Zestimate - things such as comparable sales, King County tax records, etc.  Unfortunately, it can't go inside your house and tell you how much your remodel has appreciated your home value.  I agree with Sam that if it does happen to catch that, it probably won't be exact.  You'll need a Realtor who knows the other houses in your neighborhood to give you a good estimate on the current value of your home.  Congrat's on your kitchen remodel!

You can edit your home's details to show the extent of the upgrade work.  Go to the home details page and edit the home facts.  It may take a bit of time for the zestimate to update, but it should reflect the changes.

That's only one factor Zillow takes into account, though, so you may not get the big bump in estimate that you're hoping for.
