If you are FSBO, when you pay to go on the MLS, is it okay to still have a FSBO listing on Zillow?

You are free to do all the extra marketing you want.  After your Realtor puts your home up on the MLS, it will probably syndicate out to Zillow anyway.

Dunes has the best response.

Of course, if you want the work done for you, advertise on these and many others you don't have access to, i.e. realtor websites, ChicagoTribune.com, SunTimes.com, WSJ, etc...a Realtor is still your best bet!

Good luck!

You can get your listing on the MLS with a Realtor without paying anything up front and still have the ability to sell FSBO.  It's called exclusive agency and it's the best of both worlds giving you exposure to FSBO buyers and the more sophisticated buyer who uses a Realtor.  If you need a name of one let me know.

If you are FSBO, even if you pay for an MLS listing, you may not get your MLS listing syndicated to other sites such as Zillow.  As a FSBO, you are responsible for marketing your home yourself.  If there isn't already a listing on Zillow it might be a good idea to add your listing.  If your agent already has it on Zillow, just make sure in your agreement that any leads go to you and that you won't be responsible for paying the buyer's brokerage fee to your listing agent.

You won't be able to pay to be FSBO on the MLS, the fact that a Realtor must enter the listing of your house means there is an agent involved. What some do is pay a Realtor to list the house for a flat fee, such as for $500. You will also agree to pay a Realtor a commission or the listing can not be entered into the MLS, so you are really not FSBO in the MLS. You save the listing agent fee and you have to do the work needed yourself, but you will have other agents showing the house.

It should be fine. I do a Flat Fee Listing and clients also post FSBO on the site. It should be fine, but I do not make the rules.
