Home raffles are legal in most states in the U.S.A. You can check charity raffle laws of each state here: [content removed by moderator due to self-promotion]

Raffles are legal in Ohio provided you are a non-profit and you are giving the profits to charity.

See link and go down to [§ 2915.09.2] § 2915.092. Raffles.

I know it's legal in Texas, cause charities do it all the time in the Dallas area. Do I mind giving $100 to a well known charity and getting the chance to win a new house, you got it, I don't mind at all.

It would be easier to answer the question if you said what state the house was in.  That will determine the correct answer as it is the location of the house. In other words, you cannot raffle a house unless the state the house is located in allows it.
