If the county appraisal district has your square footage wrongly documented, you can contact the them and submit a copy of the appraisal you obtained when purchasing the house (so long as there was not an error). If you do not have a copy of the appraisal, you can contact a local appraiser and get the sq ft verified. However, unless you are planning on putting your home on the market or seeking a home equity loan, you may want keep your disclosed square footage at 2400 in order to avoid an increase in property taxes.
