Is Seller Being too Demanding? My fiance and I placed an offer on a townhome that is being sold to settle an estate our financial terms were accepted but now the sellers executor who is a realtor in another state is making demands that have us unsure if we want to proceed. First, we asked for 20 days for inspection contingency, he is insisting on 10, we do seem to have settled on 14. Also we asked that the appraisal contingency be shortened to such a time that if any inspection issues were found the appraisal would have been ordered and we would be out the money for both.He is also requesting that we use the inspector of his choice which seems suspect. Finally and most alarmingly, he is requesting that the box on the contract that limits damages to the amount of deposit monies given not be checked, leaving us seemingly completely exposed if we were to terminate the contract. If everything is as it seems we fully intend to buy the home, we are first time buyers with no home to sell.
