Is Winter a Good Time to Look for a Home?

Profile picture for metrowestisbest

The December/January real estate market is a great time to find your perfect home.

Take your time.   Learn your neighborhoods.   Get your financing in order.

Be ready to jump for great opportunities.  Be ready for spring!

Seller's are motivated and inventory continues to grow.  Interest rates are at an all time low.   So much opportunity for people with vision!

I think winter is a very good time to look for and buy a house. Most people wait until the spring market which in my area begins in Febuary. But, in December and January you have the advantage of shopping without the crowds? Good luck in your home search.

Winter is a great time to buy! There is very little competition from multiple buyers wanting the same property. If a seller is motivated, they will definately consider a lower offer or a contigent offer during this timeframe. Yhis winter has a bonus - "LOW INTEREST RATES!"

yes, as others have said here, you can cut your best deal before the crowds come out in the spring and I believe this spring in particular the market is going to be VERY busy so get going and start looking now

"Of course," you're sitting there thinking, "a Realtor WOULD say it's a good time to buy." But the numbers don't lie. Many sellers are more flexible on their home's sale price during winter because they anticipate fewer ready, willing and able buyers. Also, you get to see what the home is really made of - is it well insulated? How does the greenery hold up in the cold weather? And so on.

So it may seem like the obvious answer, but all signs point to "yes."
