Virtually every house in the area I am looking at buying has a reasonable "Zestimate." However there is one house that has every single item I want in a home, beautiful hand crafted details, great use of space, a pool, a huge shop, and just enough acreage that it creates a secluded paradise in the midst of EVERYTHING. If I could buy it for the zestimate, I would in a minute. However, the zestimate is about $250,000 and the owners started out asking $550,000 and have dropped to $450,000. The REAL value (what someone will likely pay) of the place is likely somewhere in between.
But if you could buy a house for the zestimate, I'd be all over it. *shrugs*

I understand your frusttration, and maybe Gina can give you some comfort and validation that the zestimate is way off, which it probably is.
The next best advice (as Hamp said) is .,forget about it......there is nothing you can do at this time (other than "claim" it, and make comments/corrections, etc)........... no one with any knowledge will take the number seriously, whether it's right or wrong, high or low, or in between.
Happy hoiliday!

Thanks to both of you who replied.
Gina, I would like to take you up on your offer to generate a market analysis for my neighborhood. As I already said, my zipcode is
78681. My street name is "Cuero Cove". Another street close
by is named "Los Colinas". Needless to say, the property valuations
that I am seeing on Zillow are unsettling. Thanks for any clarity you can share.

Hi, Mike.
In some areas, Zillow is a good place to start. However, Texas is a non-discosure state and doesn't have access to the sold data in our area. My team works in your zip code and I'd be happy to provide the information you are looking for. Based on the number of homes sold in the past 12 months, 78681 has a 3 month supply of homes. A 6 month supply is considered a healthy market.
The homes sold prices range from $60,000 to $511,000. If you'd like a market anaysis of your neighborhood, let me know.

They use a computer algorithm to guess, basically. Their Zestimates are meaningless drivel. Don't even look at them, and definitely don't click any of the ads on them. That only encourages Zillow to keep publishing them. If you feel sufficiently violated call your state Real Estate Commission and complain.

Is Zillow having problems ?
