Is a home inventory important with Insurance providers and Realtors

Do Insurance Companies and Real Estate Agents value detailed photographic documentation of their policy holder's belongings, outside property and structure photos?

Thanks for the feedback Liz and Cassandra - I would think it would benefit Realtors to recommend that their clients document the interior and exterior of their homes. This gives the home/business owners a clear record of what they own, and the value of their possessions, when they move from one home to another. It also provides an exterior view of the home along with any additions or improvements that can be passed along to the next owner. Thanks

As Cassandra stated, not sure why the Realtor® would be concerned, I do believe as well that the Insurance company would be more interested with documentation, especially if the Insurance company would have to pay out based on a claim. Those who have "skin in the game" are going to be more interested in the documentation and photographs.

Not sure why it would be important for a Realtor® or real estate agent unless it is included in the house (I have my clients give me a list of all upgrades and recent repairs when we put the house on the market).

It might be helpful for your insurance policy though.  Be sure to keep a back up in a secure location (Wont help if your house burns down if the only copy is in the house.)
