Is it a good idea to convert a small bedroom into a walkin closet for the master? Currently 4 br.

The home was built in the 1960s.  Currently it has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and in just over 2000 sp feet.

Absolutely!  If this were a 3 Bedroom, potentially going to a 2,  I would say no.   But  a 3 bedroom with a huge walk-in closet (in the Master???) is always a plus.  Walk-in closets hold alot of appeal to buyers.   There is no such thing as too much storage space! Would be really nice if you put really nice shelving or built-in drawers.  And I love to see a chandelier in a closet...just a small one!   It really ads a touch of luxury!
Good luck!

I think that depends on how long you are planning to live in the home. Ultimately, I suspect it will hurt the resale value; bedrooms are worth more than closets. If you're going to be there a long time, however, then do what allows you to get the most use and enjoyment from your property.

Are you planning to make the change for living or for selling?

If you plan to live there a long time and want an awesome closet, go for it, enjoy it, luxuriate in it!

If you are preparing to list your house, check your comparables.  Do most of the houses in your neighborhood have four bedrooms?  If so, reducing the number of bedrooms in your house may impact your market value.  Talk to a few knowledgeable local agents about potential impacts before your commit.

I agree with the others - go for it!  Today's buyers love to see good closet space, and at 2,000 sq ft, 3 bedrooms is completely appropriate.

Yes, Space is very important.
If its being considered its obvious a needed alternative.
Converting back would be just as easy (I assume).

Yes, especially if it is functional and easily converted back.
