It is useful to have some revolving and installment history.  This would be a credit card that is used correctly and loan with good history, maybe a payed off car loan or student loans.  This payment history will help to build a strong score.  Be sure to not carry high balances on any revolving debt.

You need some stuff or your don't have much of credit report. You just don't want bad stuff. A credit history showing responsible use of credit will give you higher credit scores, lower your interest rate, give you more options for lenders and lower the overall cost of borrowing.
