Sometimes you can by working with a local agent. However some criteria may not be met.

Sorry, I didn't make it clear that I know how to setup e-mail alerts. I just wanted info on the level and garages. I've gotten the information I need.
Thanks,
Don

There is a pop up box on Zillow that will email you listings from this site or you could contact a local agent and they could set up an email to notify you of new listings or price changes off the local MLS.

The best to do would be to work with a local agent and he/she can set you up with a personal search so you can receive listings at the same rate as other Brokers and agents.
The agent can also define a certain neighborhood, not just the city so you will receive what you are looking for, not alot of other properties you have no interest in.
Best.

For number of car garage, you may want to search:
http://www.carproperty.com/
Though people have asked for several fields to be separated and searchable on Zillow, including # of stories; that just has not been implemented yet and requires a substantial revision to the database.
Some of the terms using more than one word in the keywords filter require quotes, such as "single story". But the only things that show up is what the agent put in the description.
You can save as many different searches as you like, so that way you can capture "ranch" in some, "single story" or "one floor" or "single level" in others... and if you are careful on naming them, you will know what is being E-mailed to you, and you will be able to manage your list of saved searches on your profile easier. There is no limit to the number of saved searches you can have.
(Yes, you can include in your search, "three car garage". Remember, with the keywords filter, it is only an "and" operator; no "or" operators. If you need an "OR", you just write a separate search for the "OR".)

Absolutely! Most local ML services provide this function.

Cameron is right, good Realtor sites provide this feature. Not sure what area you're looking in, but my site can send you email alerts for areas from Portola Valley & Palo Alto up through Daly City. I'd give you a link, but it'll just get deleted by the Zillow moderator.
If you have special criteria, like in DonAnder's case, I or any Realtor can set up an alert for you within the MLS system itself that can filter to some of the more detailed criteria like 2 story homes.
There should be a link to my site on my profile. Feel free to use it if you're looking in San Mateo County.
Hope this helps.

I've built a search but I don't see a place to enter the number of stories or to specify single level. If I put this in the keywords section, the number of hits goes from several hundred down to 1 or 2. I find it hard to believe only 1 or 2 of the several hundred homes are single level. I'm wondering if some single level homes are listed as ranch or rambler etc. Is there a way to find ALL of those terms or to just find actual single level homes? I also wanted to specify 3+ garages but I don't see that as one of the filters.
Thanks,
Don

You'll want to use a website that lists all homes posted to the Multiple Listing Service (Zillow is not affiliated with the MLS and not all agents upload their listings on Zillow - the majority don't). Find a reputable agent in your area and make sure they have this option on their home search site.
Good luck.
Good luck.

When you run a search, you have the option to save the search and get E-mail notifications. Are you encountering problems?

Is it possible to get automatic email notification about homes by entering certain criteria?
