An unrated lender is either new or does not participate in Zillow's quoting system where IMHO over 80% of the quotes are ficticious.

Your risk level IMHO would be the same as if they had 5/5 rating. ... Good luck, Rudi

It is somewhat risky, but we all were unrated at one time.  If you have two quotes that are close, its obvious to take the one with reviews over one without.  I would probably even pay a little more knowing that I am working with someone that has a track record.

You can also check them out with the BBB to see if they have any complaints.
