Is it worth trying for a wellsfargo refinance?

Just got a letter from Wellsfargo (our mortgage lender) offering a no-cost refinance on their "Three-Step Refinance System". Normally I'd just throw these things in the trash, since my wife has lost her job and we're unlikely to qualify for a mortgage with the amount we actually currently owe, however I'm wondering since it's with the same lender, is it worth calling them and seeing if they'll do it? In some regards I can see how it's well worth them doing it (worth them keeping us in the house and repaying the loan vs losing the house) but..

GO FOR IT! what are they going to do, say no. or Yes. Rates are amazing right now and depending on your situation, you are still in control. Never  under estimae yourself and let the bank say no. If WF says no, then go find another bank.

Just my update, my wife talked me into it (I'm always worried that they are going to say "since you're wife isn't working, we're going to deny the refinance, and increase your current rate"). The end result, they said since she isn't working and she is listed as the primary borrower, we don't qualify. Sucks a little because it would have reduced our rate by $150 a month, which would have been a welcome extra cash in the pocket (even if it cost us an extra 8k over the life of the loan).

Thanks for all responses.

As the old saying goes, it never hurts to ask.  With everything being so fluid in this market and new changes coming every day it is definitely worth seeing if they will.  Wishing you and your family the best of luck.

You'll never know until you ask. It doesn't cost a thing so give them a call to see. Thank you for your question.
