Is the posted square footage above grade only?

I have 1300 square feet finished in the basement, and 2300 sq feet on the first floor of a ranch. So is my house 2300 sq ft or 3600 sq ft?

I apologize, I should have clarified. It is generally the standard here in Georgia.** Important detail.

On Zillow, the square footage shown is the above grade finished living area with four season heating/cooling.   Your house is 2300 square feet, with a 1300 square feet basement.   Usually if you click on "data sources" you can see the basement square footage.   You can claim your home and edit the basement to be finished/unfinished or partially finished if it doesn't show correctly.

In a few areas such as Georgia (where the other poster is an agent), agents advertise the total square footage and then break it down.  It is not presented that way on Zillow.  It is not the standard across the country.

Generally it is an industry standard to give total finished space and unfinished space.
So in your case you have 3600 finished square feet. It doesn't matter if its underground in a cave, if it is totally finished and inhabitable, you can count it toward your total square footage.
Hope this helps!
