Is there a trick to getting an answer from zillow?

I really am not trying to be obnoxious, but I have been telling you about a serious error for the entire city of Brookfield, Wisconsin for months now, and no one will even reply to me.  Our zestimates have gone up exponentially because of a bug in your system that doubled the assessed tax values.  Even a "We forwarded your concerns to the coders, but they are too busy to get to it right now," would be an acknowledgement that would be better than the nothing I have been greeted with so far.  Zillow has so much potential, but major errors effecting whole cities deserve at least as much attention as the small errors involving a single home that seem to get replies from zillow representatives.

Sorry for the late reply. We do, as much as  possible, answer the questions that are posted in the Discussions Forum. But because of the growing number of Zillow.com users, it has been difficult to keep up with everything that is posted.

 

I have checked the property listed in your favorite homes along with other homes in Brookfield. I have checked on Waukesha County records and it does match what we have in Zillow. Please refer to this link: http://dwprd.waukeshacoun ... BillB.asp. I was able to find only minor discrepancies with the tax assessed value of some homes in Brookfield, but it was because the latest data from your county has not been uploaded yet.

I have also asked the data team to look at Zestimate patters for Brookfield.  They are very different from the rest of Waukesha County.  I can't promise when or if you'll see a change, but I can promise that people will look into it.

Nate U. - I am quite familiar with Waukesha County's Tax Data Warehouse. In fact that is how I figured out what Zillow's problem with Brookfield is. The website you referred me to accurately states that in 2006, the tax assessed value of my buildings was $159,700 while Zillow reports the tax assessed value for 2006 as $319,400, which is exactly two times the value reported on the Waukesha County website. Likewise, the Waukesha County website reports that in 2006, the assessed value of my land was $110,000, and again Zillow has doubled that. So, of course the Total Assessed Value reported by Zillow is also two times what the county website reports.   It would be one thing if this only effected my home, the data for the entire city of Brookfield has the same problem. 

 

None the less, thank you for your reply.

Liam - Thank you for looking into this!  As you can see, my house is on the market, and before the Zestimates got messed up, they were extremely helpful to me in assessing how our home stacked up with other homes as they entered the market.  Even with the inaccurate Zestimates, Zillow is still helpful to me, but I want it to be helpful to more buyers too.

We've run our check up through our data suppliers to data supplied from the county.  A supplier has found the source of the problem and is working on it.


Again, I'm sorry but it's hard to promise when a change will show on the site.
