The township assessor (Bloomindale or Addison) for Itasca (you can get their phone #s from their websites) can tell you exactly how they'll do it. Usually the recent purchase price will play a big factor in getting you taxes reduced. Also each year you have an opportuntiy to protest your valuation. You should ask them when the next period is and be sure to show them that your home is worth less.

Generally speaking homes get reevaluated by assessors every three to five years. You could contact the local tax assessor and ask for assistance on their procedures. The title company usually completes the "tax certs" before closing so a local title company would be a good resource for you to ask. Best of luck to you!
Itasca property tax question
Does anyone know if the city is amenable to adjusting the taxes to what we would pay for the home. It is not a short sale. Has anyone had any success with this? I know some towns are easier to deal with than others.
Thanks!
