Joint Mortgage without co-borrower having 2 yrs. work history?

I have been working since I was 16 with no gaps, and I'm 38 now. My wife  has not had 2 yrs. of work experience so far, and it is causing problems with getting a mortgage because they won't count her income. I have been told that with her income, our debt to income ratio is good, but without it, not good. I am trying to use a VA loan, and wonder what other options I have, other than to wait for 9 mos. till she has the two years.

From homemaker back to the workforce...... Did she re-enter the workforce in a line of work that she was in previously?
If so.... VA is flexible here.

Is she a w2 employee or is she getting commission income?  Does she have a college degree and is working in the field she graduated in?  These are all things an underwriter will need to know to determine if they can use her income or not.

Was it that your wife was going to school and then got a job in the field she graduated in or is it that she just never had a job?  Also, if she did work at one point and decided to stay at home but then went back to work we could make an argument for the job gap and get you approved that way.  If you would like to discuss further you can contact me directly through my profile page so we can look at this deeper.
