Kirkwood Neighborhood in Greensboro, NC

One of my favorite neighborhoods here in Greensboro is Kirkwood.  Kirkwood is a historic neighborhood near central Greensboro and Old Irving Park.  It is a highly desirable neighborhood featuring cozy homes with top quality construction, low maintenance exteriors and fully-landscaped yards.  There are approximately 300 homes in the neighborhood, dating back to the 1940s.  Its boundaries are roughly Colonial Ave. (east), Dellwood Dr. (west), Efland Dr. (north) and Liberty Dr. (south).
Kirkwood has a 4.4 acre park run by the city with playground equipment, a natural area and basketball courts.  The neighborhood is only minutes from downtown Greensboro and Friendly Center yet it maintains its quiet, quaint character.  The prestigious Greensboro Country Club is only a couple of blocks away.
Friends of Kirkwood is the community organization that sponsors neighborhood events and a Neighborhood Watch program.  Kirkwood is famous for its Fourth of July parade, when children and adults are invited to decorate their bicycles and trikes in patriotic colors and ride them through the neighborhood.
