I'm not sure how I feel about that. I do not blame agents for wanting buyers to "commit to them" legally to save them from wasting professional time, but any agent who is unwilling to discuss a basic plan with you to buy within your budget before that needs to be crossed off your list.
If you are looking for a condo in San Diego for 60K you need to listen to the truth from an agent you talk to, not just hire an agent that tells you what you want to hear. Ask questions, look at all listings in SD under 100K to see what is actually out there and interview several agents before you hire one. If you are not realistic in what you expect, you need a plan to get to where you want to go.

Have you looked into first time buyer programs? If you are at $60K as indicated below for purchasing there are few options in SD Co. I would be glad to show you those options but I only work with client's who commit to me as thier agent. If interested contact me.

Hi Jorge,
We have talked before. There are no townhomes in San Diego for $60K, but I would be happy to assist you with a strategy to home ownership. I will email you again and we can go from there.
Thanks!
Sinead

Hello Jorge~
Good for you for recognizing that this is such a great time to buy, and for taking the next step. Today at our office meeting we discussed the latest news that the Home Affordability Index is where it was in 1971. It is just absolutely amazing. Google, Zillow and Online reviews can give you some pretty good indicators of who the great agents are...and great agents know who all of the great lenders are. Finding out what you buying power is the first step, so that you are comfortable with what your new payments will be.
FHA Loans are a fantastic vehicle for 1st time Home Buyers and only require a 3.5% down Payment. More than happy to help! good Luck Jorge...proud of you!

Hi Jorge,
I can offer you some lenders to contact; that will be best as far as affordability. They will look at your credit and several other factors. I can definitely help you as far as buying, and property and loan choice. There's a lot to consider, and you probably have a million questions, and I can break it down for you and make it easier to understand.
One thing I do before any offers are written, is give my buyers a breakdown of your estimated monthly costs, so you have an idea of what your payments will be going in. There won't be much in the way of surprises that I haven't prepared you for, and a lot can happen when buying a home.
Don't hesitate to contact me anytime. I'm here to answer your questions and get you on your way. It may be easier than you think.
Warm Regards,
Cory

Hi Jorge: You may have noticed that Zillow doesn't allow posting of contact information. you can click on a poster's profile for contact information, or you can search for professionals in your area by clicking on "professionals" in the top line and the appropriate area and profession.

I specialize in working with first time home buyers and can walk you through the entire process. Also I like our in-house lender Frank Thomas at New American Mortgage, that guy really gets it done for all my clients. Call or e-mail me to discuss making an appointment to meet us both.

You are best served by meeting with a lender or mortgage broker first to see what you qualify for, then consulting a REALTOR to get started on your search. I recommend Dave Cummins with Rancho Financial. He can be reached at [contact information deleted by Zillow moderator. Please refer to our Good Neighbor Policy for posting guidelines]. He is readily available and can get you competitive rates and will give you great service. I have had several transactions with him that have run very smoothly to close successfully.
