any competitors named Ray? This is commonplace, unfortunately. He must have assumed he stayed anonymous even by contacting you! woops. Send the email to Zillow and let them sort it out.

Wow Linda, you are the quoting machine. 4268 quotes since 4/10/08. That's 853 quotes a month, or 43 quotes a day based on 20 work days a month. That's crazy, do you have carpul tunnel syndrome yet?

Linda, what was the quote #? Isnt he always lower than you anyway? Everytime I see his quote, it looks like par using PF and no origination either. I may call Doug, The VLO, and ask him.

I clicked the link and read the first two sentences of his bio. Wow! Seems to contradict what he's doing to Linda.

Come on now.. are we really to the point where lenders are asking other lenders for GFE's. Just when you think it is getting better, it just gets more and more insane
Joe- they are just doing that so that they can review the competition with a little bit less of a guilty conscience. He'll say 'Fees to high. Chose to go elsewhere.', and rate her a two. But it will be ok, because he got a GFE. (contact, very important. Ethics? Not so much.)

Ethics, maybe we should start a thread about ETHICS in Mortgage Lending!

From the looks of things that would be an oxymoron....

Am I reading this thread right? One lender asks another for a GFE under the guise of being a legit quoter? Geez. I am always amazed.
But, how can a lender target another when he or she doesn't know a particular lender is going to quote? And, if the quoting lender is smart, he or she never gives out a GFE without taking an app and pulling credit. That is a good way of ferreting out a dishonest lender.

Greg, so you seriously only give out a GFE when you have taken an app and pulled credit? Come on now Greg. Apparently, according to you, I am not a smart lender as I don't require a loan app or credit to be pulled prior to providing a GFE. Gee, wonder how many other non smart lenders there are.

Greg....All you have to do is contact the lender through the quote. If the lender is not paying attention, he/she would have no reason to believe it is anyone but the borrower. That is of course the one doing the asking is not a complete moron and has a "bank type" email address. I am sure this was a actual loan request and this lender just piggybacked into the equation.

I don't provide a GFE without credit. If the borrower isn't serious enough to formally apply, then I am not serious enough to spend my time on them.

Good point Joe. It really could be something that simple and innocent.

Lenders who put out fake request to give bad ratings
I got a "message about my quote" asking me "for a Good Faith and when can I lock this loan?" but when I look @ the email address
ray@goodfaithfinancing.com I really got steamed. I put to much time in putting out quotes to have another lender put out a request either to give out bad ratings or is just plain bored. I don't try and look at what others are doing only because I am not going to sell myself short for the lowest
quote and work for free!!!!
