too bad it's not that easy.
but who knows...maybe you'll see some relocation if housing is such a great deal there!
however there was great loss of life in Japan and many are needed to stay and rebuild, and duty and obligation are far stronger influences in their culture than in others so don't hold your breath.

AZ, will be one heck of a commute for them to their jobs in Japan. Are you going to get AZ to accept the industry necessary to bring them there?
While it could also be an environmental win for the world, many areas in the US have a "not in my back yard" mentality that prevents putting industry where it will have the least environmental impact. We can hope that AZ is not one of those areas, but I would not bet on it especially if you did it in the compressed time frame this is begging for.

Nice thought, curious who would pay for them to get here? Really think this would work from the same state that introduced Senate Bill 1070?
Also, if I was from Japan not so sure I would move to a country that held US Citizens, that happened to be of Japanese decent in concentration like camps during WWII.

I was quite impressed with their manners overall when I lived their from '89 - '92.
With the latest tragedy, they have suffered major destruction, loss of law enforcement in the area, and yet.... you see folks in line for assistance (food,water,etc.). Waiting their turn.
Reports of looting have yet to surface, and I doubt they will.

I think that if we had a moratorium on building that would help more than anything. It is crazy to see all of the new homes being built when there are so many vacant homes throughout the valley. It would certainly help the prices of homes appreciate.

That's a great thought, albeit over-simplified. The situation is far too complex for such an easy quick-fix. But hey, our glorious political leaders could probably come up with some ingenious, sweeping legislation to invite them into our mess... er... uh... opportunity! ;-) At least it might take their focus off radiation for a while.

Let the model citizens of Japan into AZ, that would solve our housing problems!
