Hi hmcclellan71,
Due to Fair Housing Laws, Realtors are not allowed to comment on the ethnic diversity of any community. The best place to reference would be the US Census Bureau. Here is the link:
http://www.census.gov/
Also, since you are new to the area, you can also check out the Metro North website, if you decide to take the train to Stamford. The red line represents the New Haven line.

Just for the record, the blue line represents the Harlem line, and the Green line represents the New Haven line.
I also suggest reading the New York Times. They have great articles titled "Living In" which profiles various communities in the tri-state area. It is found in the real estate section. Here is the main New York Times link:

why not Stamford!!!?? :)) if you are looking for a good alternative with a little more choice/affordability, Norwalk is a good option as stephen has mentioned. :)

Am no authority. I'd say Norwalk and Portchester, N.Y. Stamford itself has a good mix, too.
