Looking to build a home in Bedstuy or Crown Heights. Any contacts that can help?

I have been looking in Bedstuy and Crown Heights for a decent 2 family home for under 450K, to no avail. A contractor I recenlty met told me that I could buy a plot and build a home in either of those areas for relatively the same cost. I am seriously considering this option, but does anyone know of any professionals that could walk me through the process or who could be of assistance. Would appreciate the help.
