Looking to purchase land/financing options

I am looking to purchase 14 acres of land to eventually build on in Northeastern PA. What types of financing options are available to me?

Farm credit or FSA loans are typically not too bad. Other than that you can go to a local bank and they normally want 20% down for land.. some around here run a construction loan that encompasses the land also.

If the raw land you are buying is farm land you may be able to get a loan with a farm credit services institution.  If it is not farm land, then a local bank or credit union will likely be your best option.

Best bet is to talk to area banks or credit unions. Typically you will need 20 to 35% down payment for a loan on raw land. Community banks are the best sources for this type of financing.

Good luck.
