The answer will greatly depend on many factors.... What your max price is, how much you can get preapproved for, is your expectations set correctly for your price range, etc. Obviously in the end you will save a great deal more money not having something custom built and or tailored to your exact tastes. I believe the best way to go is figure out when a slow period is in that local market and once the time comes contract a builder to build for you. Many go hungry during slower months out of the year and will price competively to gain your business. As far as buying everything together and or seperate who knows.
