Low selling prices on Zillow

Can someone explain to me why there are properties in Alameda on Zillow that show as having recently sold for $57K, $75K, $150K? Was there something wrong with the property? Is this an auction sale? A family member selling a property at a low price to reduce taxes on the transaction? Or what is up?

Your guesses are most likely correct mutrux, since there have only been 6 sales in Alameda this year at about $150k and below. You can get a condominium at one building in particular for around $150k, but other than that one of your other scenarios is most likely.

Zillow is awesome for providing a lot of data, but sometimes you need someone to help you interpret the data because the information comes from so many different sources and may not always be 100% accurate.

That is sometimes the result of a transfer between family members , or possibly a property taken out of a trust or put into a trust.  I doubt any of those are the results of a real sale.
