They should just tap into their 401K's instead of lving in a tent.........
The "what the heck were you doing with a home loan"? was WAMU and Countrywide's Slogan over the last few years I thought.

"Just more liberal propaganda to force social bailouts on us."- as opposed to the 'financial bailouts' we've been seeing? I am so sick of the word 'liberal' being used as a dirty word. BOTH sides got us into this mess, and BOTH sides are ponying up plenty of money to 'rescue' failed corporations. Liberal propaganda??? Are you kidding?

A real possible although sad solution: Roll out the FEMA/FED trailers for a better shelter situation. I know MSNBC is sensationalizing it for a story, but it become more of a reality then we think.
I know two people in their 60's who are about to lose their jobs. Last time I checked, rent cost money. Now, if they didn't have any family, and unemployment ran out before they could find a job, well... Let's just say I wouldn't envy their situation...

Right, I understand that happening if you have no reserve and you lose a job with no one around to fall back on. But they are running the story as if having your home foreclosed on is the reason people are living in tents... That is what I have an issue with, it IS the liberal view to support people whome have over extended themselves and try and help them keep these homes. Homes which they simply cannot afford.
But NeoConservatives are also a dirty word to me. They are people who tossed out the whole concept of conservatism and are now handing out the biggest bailouts in the history of the USA.
I'm true fiscal conservative, limited government. So while I hate (socialism) which is very intertwined with liberalism now.. I equally am affraid of and hate NeoConservatism.
digi- think about this for a second- the people that bought these houses were bascially renting them from the banks. the banks still own them. the only thing the banks are 'losing' is the expected boatload of cash they thought they were going to make on 30 years of ridiculous payments. Now they have to wait for a new buyer to come and start giving them money. The government has decided to bail out the banks- NOT the people. I have yet to hear of ONE story of the government stepping in to help a person in foreclosure. Not one. If you could send one to me, great, but I don't see it happening.
You know what would have been great? If the gov. didn't bail out the banks, but instead forced them to renegotiate every sub-prime mortgage they wrote, to a low, fixed rate for 3 years. It would have been a win-win for most people who didn't lose their jobs, but instead couldn't afford the payments because they skyrocketed. The banks could have made some money, instead of losing tons, and we could have saved billions as tax payers. No bailout, no BS. They created the problem, they could figure out a way to solve it.

Um yeah, but you can rent for a lot less than a mortgage, especially in today's markets. Having your home foreclosed on because your HELOC + ARM mortage costing you 3k/mo on a home worth only 130K is NOT a reason that people are being forced to live in tents. A nice 2 or 3bd apartment can be had for 900/mo or less in some parts. It may not be luxorious, but it beats a tent.
I'm sorry but people need to learn their lessons. Anyone who got an ARM they can't afford and didn't read the fine print.. Is not my problem. I will not endorse a single penny of my paycheck going to someone elses house they DO NOT DESERVE. Its not their right to own a house. They made a bad financial decision and people need to figure that out. Same with the banks.
I never said anywhere that the government bailed the people out directly. They are doing it indirectly. Yet there is a call from the liberal side to bail people out directly. Loan modification is one of them. If the banks want to modify the loans, thats up to them. But sounds like they would rather go belly up than do that. Its not the governments place to force the banks to do so. Besides, I have a feeling the banks would die anyhow because they probably fiscally planned the future with the income from high interests in mind.. So with a low fixed rate, they will quickly find themselves still way over leveraged.

And that is why everyone needs to go back to ZERO!

MSNBC Tries to equate Mortgage foreclosures with homeless camps.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26776283/
Seriously, if someone lost their house to foreclosure, what prevents them from renting? Going from a home in foreclosure to a tent is pretty obsurd. If you can't even afford a basic apartment, what in the heck were you doing with a home loan?
This is more a problem with unemployment than home foreclosures. Just more liberal propaganda to force social bailouts on us.
