However, the newest change down to 760K reflects the tanking market in San Diego, CA.
This is where we are headed; and to get there requires us to sell our house first (well sort of first). So now you as a potential buyer get to buy a cool house in Redmond, WA but benefit from the terrible housing market in San Diego (which is off about 22%).
It is shame that Zillow's estimate is not using the actual average per square footage for our neighborhood. During the last year, houses were selling much closer to 300 per square foot. It also is claiming that comps to our house are 250 per square foot; this is because it is comparing our house to ramblers. Yes technically our house has a day basement (since the first floor is below the ground of the back yard) but it is not as such (it is at ground level to the front of the house). Plus our house is nowhere near rambler. It is an ultra modern design with an open layout. The Zillow estimate really should be using something between 260 & 280 per square foot.
