Mde an offer today OVER the asking price

Yes, you read that right.  A house up the street from where we are renting went on the market last week.  When I saw the info sheet, I coulnd't believe my eyes!  About $150 below normal market for that plan.  But.....reason is, it's a probate sale and it needs lots of TLC to the tune of about $100K.  So we decided to make an offer.  Thier agent said she had a lot of offers some below, some at and some above.  So we offered $10K above.  We'll see what happens.

I'm pretty neutral about the outcome.  Don't want to get emotional and then get let down.  If we get it, we get it - if not, there will be others.

The owner of the house died w/out a will. The house went to the 3 kids and there is a lawyer as the executor.  I think the probate term is so the realtors use the propper form in making the offer (at least here in CA).

If you die without a will and have assets the assets get distributed to the legal heirs (basically the law tells you who the heirs are). The sale of an asset has to be approved by the probate court so it can take a little longer and the fewer contingencies, the more likely the court is to approve.

Oh, and lesson here is that if you have relatives you hate, you better get a will made because if you die the law will end up giving your stuff to those people you can't stand!
