Talk to a loan officer as soon as you can. There are many loan programs that may be available to use to accomplish your goal.

I suggest that you make an appointment with a loan officer at a local bank (in your community).  Bring all the documents the loan officer tells you to bring to the meeting.  He/she will tell you whether you qualify for a loan.  If you don't qualify now, ask the loan officer what you and your husband need to do to qualify for a loan and approximately how long it will take to repair your credit.

You mention your credit score is low.   Do you have a number for the FICO scores that you could share?
