Mortgage Protection and Mortgage Insurance

Is there a difference between these two?  Where can I find the best?

Not exactly sure that in your situation these two terms mean the same.  Mortgage insurance is something a lender will require based on the loan scenario and loan to value percentage.  If you are applying for a mortgage and are required to have mortgage insurance, then the lender will choose the mortgage insurer for you.

There are programs that are called Mortgage Protections (offered different agencies) which is some sort of insurance to help for few months in-case of a financial hardship. Mortgage insurance is a program that lenders require you to obtain if your loan LTV (Loan To Value) is higher than 80%.
