My home is listed on Zillow by an agent and the contract has expired. How do I get it removed?

Profile picture for kgranch
My home was placed on zillow by an agent but my contract has now expired. I have asked them to remove it but I guess they are too busy. It has been almost a month since I have requested twice that they remove it. I need help to delete it so I may list it myself.  What do I do?

May I ask why you are removing it?  Have you decided not to sell?

Just ask the agent again or the office manager to remove it.

Hi, this is Ron from Zillow.

You may take down the for sale sign by following these steps:

1. Log on to your Zillow account.
2. Go to the “Home Details Page” of the property.
3. Click on "Edit status".
4. Erase the link on the "Related website".
5. On the drop down box of the home status, click on "No longer for sale".
6. Remove the open house dates, if there are any.
7. Then click on the Disclaimer (which starts with, "I promise that I am...") before clicking on "Create Your Listing" button.

After you have taken it down, then you can repost it as For Sale By Owner (FSBO).

However, we apologize because we do not have an access to remove your listing from the source of the feed. Once it's removed from the source, it will no longer be marked as for sale when zillow system updates the site or checks the feed. It is the agent's responsibility to remove it from their database.

If you could provide us the specific property address in question, we will be able to identify the agent and advise him likewise.

Please let us know if you have other concerns.

Kgranch,
Try contacting Zillows customer service. This has happened to me before when I took over an expired listing of another agents. Zillow will delete the old one for you. If this doesnt work, call up the listing office of your realtor. Ask to speak to the manager/owner. Explain the situation. It is illegal for him to keep it on there. Let the manager know that. They will make sure it is removed. Wish you the best of luck in '09.
