Zillow's "zestimates" are not accurate, this is a widely known fact. People take the values from Zillow as if it is gospel. I suspect the attorney did more than only check Zillow.com for background information on you. In fact, they most likely ran a credit check. In other words, probably not only the information, the wrong information on Zillow that lead to the suit.
Zillow is trying to have an estimate on every property in the US, and expanding. They are not considered accurate & the value(s) are not used by anyone in the RE industry.
How did the lawsuit turn out? Best of luck, Spirit

I know quite a few million dollar homes (and their owners) that owe more than a million dollars on them. So suing those owners would net nothing.
If I was a greedy lawyer, I would go after people who had equity, not just owners that had 'million dollar' homes (and million dollar emcumbrances on them) .
But thats a lawyer for you....

if you can prove in court that the case has no merits, you can recover your legal fees as a frivolous lawsuit is a form of harassment.

oh, it was unrelated to the house. I just figured they saw the value and thought I was loaded.

I still don't get the lawsuit. If someone working for Fulton County recorded your sale of $296K and messed up by recording it as $1.296M, then the public tax records affected online valuations, how are you responsible for anything? What were you sued for?

Well, it was a bad lawsuit - some lawyer thought my home was worth 1.3 million. So he figured good victim.

Really, that happened ? That is terrible, I am so sorry to hear that. You won? Or you lost but had to file bankruptcy anyway....so sorry to hear about your troubles....my heart goes out to you.

It is puzzling that the last sold price is 1.3 million in Jan 2011. You can flag the transaction in the price history table if it is incorrect.
My house is way over valued on Zillow - I got sued.
