My husband and I are considering buying a home in Western Massachusetts. The econcmy seems lacking,

We are moving due to our family living there.  But, I am concerned about the resale value.  Yet, the home prices are considerably higher than Western New York.  What can account for that difference?

NitaE- Whitney from Zillow. I'd recommend that you check out Zillow's Real Estate Market Reports. The reports have data on home values, homes sold for loss/gain, homes foreclosed, listings with price cuts, etc. This may shed some light on the differences you're seeing.
