Whether or not your house is a HUD property is irrelevant. The only true way to avoid losing your home to foreclosure is to pay your monthly mortgage bill.

If you are having difficulties, there are ways to help you save your house from foreclosure. You can either pay the entire arrearages, work out a payment plan to get caught up in payments, or otherwise get your loan modified to have the outstanding debt put on the back end of your mortgage. If you need help negotiating with your lender, call the Homeownership Preservation Foundation toll-free at 888-995-HOPE or visit them online at www.995hope.org.

If efforts to get caught up on payments or modify your loan fail, then you should consider selling your home. Just bear in mind that if you are behind on your payments and if the bank or lender has already started the foreclosure process, then time is of the essence for you to find and work out a solution with your lender. So don't put this off.
