Need help from a well wisher about my relocation to Miami....

Hi,
I am moving to Miami for a job in January - in almost 2 weeks and I am excited!!!
Can some well wisher help me with some residence questions?
My job will be near the airport and I think my rent affordability is up to $1500-$1800 max! I am a single professional.
1. What will be good clean less crime sophisticated areas to live where I won't have a bad commute (less than 15 min)?

2. What advice can I get hunting for condos?
Move fast, deposits, scams, bad landlords, etc?

Thanks.

Honestly as far as areas go, you are better off asking local people about whether areas are good or bad. Agents want to help, but what they can say is bound by law to be nondiscriminatory so they cannot discuss race, crime, socioeconomic issues etc.

While an agent can help with giving you a website like greatschools zip skinny or spotcrime, local person in a forum or local coffee shop can tell you the inside scoop without such constraints or at least offer their personal opinion for you to consider.

YOur job location is slightly unclear. Is it near to Miami International Airport or Fort Lauderdale?
However, In case your Job is located Nea MIA, brickell is a nice area. Lots of restaurants, bars, fitness center and much more. This area caters to young professionals, basically financial district. I think Camden apartments rent one bedroom for around $1400 or up. However, for your price range, you may get lucky in finding something overlooking ocean.

I would highly recommend using a real estate agents. Most of the landlords are nice, however, you may never know.

Let me know if you need more specific information!

Currently living in Miami area.

Congratulations on your new job! Zillow is a great place to talk with local people in your area and with agents, but you also might try the forums for Miami on city-data. There are lots of local people who can give you the skinny on schools, good areas, local rents etc.

If you are planning to rent, PLEASE be careful and watch for rental scams. They are everywhere so trust your gut and stick with reputable people.
