No mortgage for self employed greencard holder?

Hello,
I was told that I can't have a mortgage because I'm self employed (working for commission) and a greencard holder.
I would have a chance as soon I get the citizenship or if I would not be self employed (non commission income).
My credit score is 707 and I could provide 50% down payment.
Which bank would probably be the right one to talk to?

Self employed people (including green card holders) often can qualify for mortgages  if they have sufficient income from the self employment demonstrated for at least two years on their tax returns.
