It kills, kills me that we squandered all the support we had in Europe and the rest of the world. The founders of the constitution did NOT sit like a religious order, discussing various forms of deism. They put together a democracy, separate from theistic issues, which would serve us well for centuries, if administered evenly and intelligently as a matter of state.
Maybe we could get Drew to keep the government "on topic".
I agree, Supercub. I haven't heard any of the candidates adressess the real economic problems in the US. They just deliver the party line drivel.
As members of the sinking middle class, we should vote with our pocketbooks. I am tired of bailing out everyone else while I sit on the sidelines and pay my bills on time. The problem is there not one candidate that can get Congress to stop wasting the taxpayers money.
What it means is that, either way the election goes, the metro D.C. upscale real estate will heat up after the losing side moves out and the winners move in their people (staff, Cabinet, hangers-on.)
Well I wish they would just buy my house early 'cause we are right inside D.C. and we need to sell like yesterday.

I won't voice my opinions (*cough* Obama) excuse me! We need to move forward and clean up this 8 yr disaster. I don't think Huckleberry Finn will go in a NEW direction, he'll just pick up where Puppy Boy left off. Not a good place. Our representation Globally has been a crazy embarrassment. The man can't even get through a speech without making up words! Literally! I don't envy the job ahead of whomever is elected. It'll be janitorial more than Presidential.
If Huck gets in, I'll sit shiva for this country. A continuation of the last eight years will completely destroy my belief in what our country stands for.

It does somewhat amaze me that I have lived long enough to see a viable black Presidential candidate and a viable woman Presidential candidate. 30 yrs ago such a thing was unimaginable to everyone I knew. Change is in the air. When those soldiers start coming back from overseas they are going to want homes, I hope. Just like after WWII. And I do agree that we have squandered our international support which I regret.

I'm pretty sure everyone in FL. had the same feelings while Bush was running LOL.
However, you are correct, seeing two candidates that 30 years ago was unimagineable (do we really need to even go 30 years back to make it unimagineable) is quite exciting. Hopefully their race and or sex doesn't overshadow their position on things that need to be changed (ie. housing crash/possible depression,I could keep going but am getting depressed)...I guess we will have to wait and see.
Before I accidentallly offend someone, I want to stress I am from a Military family. My father is still active duty actually. I support the troops one hundred percent, but do not agree with how Bush decided to deploy them. So please don't infer hostility to the troops because I don't agree with the Presidential decisions.

Having lived through that 2000 election, I can tell you that many of us were concerned from the start that the race was going to be too close for comfort. Jeb Bush was a very popular and powerful Governor, Katherine Harris was a very wealthy Cabinent member so its not like she needed the job and she "took one for the team" knowing the cost politically, and Fla is a very strong Republican stronghold [most Cubans have never forgiven JFK and the Dems for the Bay of Pigs fiasco and will tell you that they won't vote Dem]. That Kerry did as well as he did in this State is truly amazing.

After the first post, I was worried that people would get the wrong idea. I am all for a PC world, but it seems like I have to work overtime to not step on any toes...but ty all for knowing what I meant and not reading in to it.
