If one were to make an offer and the bank has until a certain day to respond, does the bank respond that day? If the bank does not respond, what next?

Unfortunately, they don't play by our rules.  It took 30 days to get a response from the last foreclosure I did.

If you are considering placing an offer on a short sale or foreclosure, be aware that the bank(s) tend to ignore deadlines related to response times.

What happens?  You have the option to withdraw.     If you really want the property, you have to play by their rules.  It can be painful and prolonged.
