You can remove your listing on your home. As for the others there is a button on the bottom of the listing were you can report it, if you know that it is not in fact on the market.

@Mya: Zillow is not syndicated with the regional MLSs in most parts of the country, so your comments are not accurate. Therefore, if an agent wishes their listing to be on Zillow, they (or their broker) must get the information into a data feed that actually goes to Zillow.
If the agent isn't responsible for their listings and feeds, who is?

It's not always the agent's fault. Zillow (and other sites like Trulia, Yahoo, Hotpads, etc) pulls the information from MLS. The agent is required by the MLS to update the MLS profile - but it doesn't always reflect on Zillow.
You should NOT trust Zillow in terms of accuracy and up-to-date information. If you have an agent, ask him or her to set you up on automatic listing updates for properties within your search criteria.
Good Luck!

I have has some similar issues with Zillow. Clients have contacted me to have a posting from Zillow removed even when it was not my listing.
I explain to the client that their realtor can and should have the listing updated and revmoved it it has sold. I also contact Zillow on their behalf and Zillow has corrected the situation.

Oh boy... I am SO totally on board with you in being upset about this. Let me tell you a bit about what's going on, on the agent's side of the table (speaking from personal experience): I had a listing last year that was finally put onto Zillow after a long delay (was already in escrow by that time). I couldn't make the status update myself (to mark the house "Sold") for some strange reason that made no real sense to me (my account, my listing, why not under my control?).
I emailed, posted an online query for Zillow, and spoke directly with Customer Service, asking that the listing status be corrected. I noted that the property was sold, for how much, what day the close of escrow occurred. To this day, I have a floating listing on Zillow that STILL shows up as "Active". It is really frustrating. It makes me - as an agent - look incompetent. I pride myself on being anything BUT incompetent!

I'm wondering if it is helpful to keep getting so much good advice almost a year after you were able to identify the best answer to your question?

I see this time and time again. Agents are either lazy or want the listing to continue to show so that it appears that they have more listings--perhaps..does a listing need to be removed or just listed as sold?

I refused to let my agent put it on Zillow after I had trouble with another agent. Real estate agents get lazy and once the deal is done do not bother to answer or respond to problems. Now, I maintain all controls as the seller. At least I know what I have done and can take care of it. It literally took threats to contact the real estate board before she got off her duff to delete the information. The problem might be how Zillow allows the information to be submitted online.

This is not so much a Zillow problem as it is an agent problem. Agents who leave information up on the automated feed being sent to Zillow need to remove it.
Anyone who has their listing still up should email the agent and not take no for an answer. You can see where the for sale listing is coming from by going to the bottom of the home page. At the bottom, it will say "listing provided by" with a hotlink to the home site that has the automatic feed. If your house says for sale and has an automatic feed showing up from the agent, they need to remove it.
Do not accept finger pointing. Agents are responsible for removing the listing and Zillow does not post ANY houses for sale that agents or owners have not directly submitted as listings. Zillow can help remove the listing, but the feed is the agents responsibility.
I understand that agents manage a lot of feed and that sometimes they slip through the cracks, but the feed starts and stops with the agent's office so you have to address the problem there to get it resolved completely.

I know it can be frustrating. Zillow has instilled a program that removes listings after a certain amount of time. Can anyone confirm this...is it 6 months?

If you know that the home is no longer on the market you can ask your agent to remove it, ask Zillow to remove it or ask me and I will help you.

In many cases listings are pulled through feeds that update occasionally. If the agent has not placed the property on one of these sites on their own...they may not even be aware of it. I get calls all the time from properties sold 6-8 months ago and I have to ask people where they found it. I do subscribe to at least 8 websites that I can professionally control but I still get calls from websites I have never heard of.

Honestly some agents don't bother. I used to blame syndication, but I saw too many using sold listings as lost leaders. If there was a board issued fine for false advertising 30 days after a close, I bet the old listings would magically come down in short order. Agents that leave listings up on purpose make honest agents work harder and look bad.

With syndication sites the listing can get in multiple times. It might take an agent more time to remove them.

Hi. I believe agents to be well-intended in this respect. It most likely is a question of remembering and then the time to do the removal. In many cases our listings are on multiple home-search sites and it may take a little while to get through all of them to update them as to current and past listings.

Call Zillow customer support. Give them the address and they will contact the agent and remove the listing.

Agents need to follow up and remove their listings, but sometimes do not since they have listings on so many different sites at once.

I have not figured out HOW to remove a sold listing from zillow. So I think it is a zillow problem not an agent problem. Someone please advise. Thanks.

Old listings on Zillow, houses that have already sold. The agents don't remove- what to do?
