Our property is being taken for a road project we do not want to move. We live on 4 beautiful very private acres in the hart of South Fayette Twp. When the offer for our property is made is it negotiable. Do they have to pay us for the loss of quality of lliving there or is that where I need a attorney. Any hints on dealing with the turnpike commision.   Any help would be appreciated

Good advice so far. Recommend you get that lawyer long before you consider settling. I have experienced a road going thru our farm and my eneighbors farm. Those who held out to the last made 2 to 3 times more per acre. than those who negotiated earlier. Hope my experience can help you.

I agree, get an attorney with experience in this area as early in the process as possible. They will be worth every penny.

Good luck,

Roger

I think you should consult an attorney familiar with property law. You will also want an appraisal of the property that is independent of the Turnpike Commission.  An attorney would be able to find you a qualified appraiser.

Chances are you are going to lose your property thru eminent domain. But having an attorney representing you in front of the turnpike commission might help you get a better offer.
