POSITIVELY! Do go by and check on the home as if it were yours. As Realtors it's our obligation to our clients.

When we've had our homes on the market, I've been unpleasantly shocked how often the place isn't locked after a showing. A savy burglar could follow some agents around and walk right in after their showings. Is locking up and turning lights off not expected of all agents after showings? Do agents carry liability for not locking up after visits?

You could put a note by the lockbox, asking that they be sure the doors are locked and that lights are all off.

Truly freaking scary that you would need to remind a professional to lock up and turn the lights off. It seems as if the minimum standard would be to treat the home as if it were your own.

You definitely don't want the liablity of your sellers home being left open. Bertter to be safe than sorry.

Out of town during a showing

Contributions:83I've run into this a few times with clients...agents and inspectors leaving the doors unlocked when they were done going through a home. In some cases the client was out of town for the weekend.
As convenient as it was to have a showing while they were gone I'm thinking it may not be a bad idea for someone to swing by to make sure the house was locked up.
